Microblading
FAQs
What is microblading?
Microblading is a manual technique that creates very natural hair-like strokes. The procedure is done using a manual hand tool with ultra fine needles. Manual shading can also be added to create more fullness and dimension. Pigments are chosen based on the natural brow color, skin tone and desired shade. We recommend that a touch up is performed 1-2 depending on skin type and skincare routine. Skin cells turn over more frequently on oilier skin types causing the color to fade quicker than drier skin types.
Who is a good candidate for microblading?
Anyone is a great candidate for microblading! It can dramatically correct or fully reconstruct an eyebrow and is also excellent for those wanting to enhance their brows to any extent.
What to know before your appointment
You must be off retin-A or retinol 7 days prior to your procedure as this can cause the pigment to fade prematurely.
No botox should be done 3 weeks prior or 4 weeks after the procedure.
No chemical peels 60 days before or after the procedure (brows will peel quicker due to chemicals traveling under the skin).
Stop taking aspirin, niacin, vitamin E, fish oil, CoQ10 and ibuprofen 48 hours before the procedure (these thin the blood). Tylenol is okay.
No alcohol or caffeine 24 hours before the procedure.
A touch up will take place 6 weeks after your initial appointment to assess how your brows have healed.
Topical numbing cream is used during your appointment.
What to expect during and after your microblading session:
During your appointment we will assess your natural brows, talk about the areas you would like to improve, do a well detailed map of your brows while working with you the entire time to achieve the perfect brow and then once we are satisfied with the shape we will begin the procedure.
After your appointment, you can expect 4-6 weeks for your brows to heal depending on your body regeneration and age. In the first 2-4 days after your appointment, your brows may appear darker and they may start to scab and get itchy. As days go on, your brows will soften and lighten up. Often even with proper care, clients may have more fading in some areas and that is completely normal. This is why we have clients wait and heal for a full 6 weeks before a touch up.
Once completely healed, always wear SPF 30-50 on your brows when exposed to the sun. Sun exposure might cause the color pigment to fade away more quickly.
Microblading Aftercare
Microblading aftercare is essential for achieving the best results and longevity of your brows. Here are some guidelines to follow…
The following are to be avoided for the first 14 days post-procedure:
Excessive sweating
Swimming
Excess water from shower
Sauna
Hot tub
Sun exposure
Drinking alcohol in excess (this may lead to slow healing)
Touching the eyebrow area except for when rinsing and applying the post-care cream
Makeup
Regular skincare lotion
Other guidelines
You’ll want to keep your brows as dry as possible besides when washing and putting on ointment.
Starting on day 2 post procedure, you may begin to cleanse your brows twice a day with antibacterial soap (dial is a great option).
After you wash your brows, apply a rice grain amount of aftercare ointment on each eyebrow with a clean cotton swab or finger and spread it very thin. You do NOT want it to be too saturated as this can suffocate the skin and delay healing. Continue to use ointment for the first 14 days as needed.
After day 14, brows are safe to get wet and clients may return to normal skincare routines.
Always wear SPF 30-50 on your brows when exposed to the sun. Sun exposure might cause the color pigment to fade away more quickly.
